Welcome to the NY2SY website! This website will provide you with all the information you need about my NY2SY: Solo North Atlantic Row 2012. I hope that you will take the time to explore these pages to find out more about my bid to row solo from the U.S.A. to Scotland, across the North Atlantic Ocean, and will help me with my efforts to raise as much money as possible for my chosen charity, SAMH.
The next few months are going to be very exciting as I prepare for, and then undertake, the biggest challenge of my life and I will try my best to share the experience with you. The thought of rowing solo across the open ocean thrills me, yet fills me with fear as well, and although I may be all alone in the boat, none of this will be possible without your support and generosity.
So, I hope that you will come with me as I embark on this epic adventure...

11/04/2012NY2SY postponed.
I am bitterly disappointed to have to tell you that I am going to have to postpone my NY2SY challenge for this year. It is a big decision to make but I feel that I really have no alternative given the circumstances. I am still some way short of the total that I need to fund the project and it has now come to the point where, even if I was to find the money still needed tomorrow, I just wouldn't have enough time to organise things to be ready in time for the proposed launch date next month. I have looked at cutting back in certain areas of the project, to make it more affordable, but I really feel that this can't be done as a challenge like this is difficult enough to undertake when fully prepared.... to attempt it having made compromises solely due to financial pressures would be foolish. I have a duty to the organisations who have sponsored me, all those who are supporting me in some way and not least myself and my family, to make sure that I am 100% ready for NY2SY, unfortunately I am not.
